Its Friday. It sucks I didn’t have anything red to wear today

A whole lot of waiting around. Waiting for parts to come from FedEx, who from I can tell just shows up whenever they damn well feel like. 1pm on Tuesday, 3pm yesterday, 4pm today and still nothing. Waiting for approval on stuff at work that should have been quick but the person in charge of that lost internet at their house and had to go in. I think I’ll have a beer and wait for this all to blow by. How’s it going for you?

Just finished work for the day and it’s supposed to rain all weekend. I do love that wagon of yours.

We got lunch today from Franklin’s Barbecue here in Austin. It is reported to be the best barbecue anywhere, certainly in Austin. Normally, you have to wait hours to get in, and then there’s a distinct possibility that they will run out before you get any (they only make a certain amount each day). Last time President Obama was here, he ate at Franklin’s (without waiting, I’m sure). But now, with the COVID, they are only doing take out and you can schedule a pick up time. So we got two pounds of brisket, a pound of turkey, some sausage, and all the sides. And I am happy to report that it is every bit as good as they say it is, and maybe even better. Definitely the best brisket I’ve ever had. It is, however, quite expensive. Not a place I’d eat regularly, but for a treat, it was fantastic.

You can send me some fish and chips. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had was somewhere in Newfoundland, sitting on a dock waiting for a ferry. This would have been about 1982. My family took a month and drove from VA all the way up to St. Anthony.

Newfoundland? I think that’s just about as far as Texas lol

Well, the fish and chips doesn’t have to come from Newfoundland, but then again, I imagine it’s better on the coasts. Hell, the cod was probably caught the day before.

Here on the West Coast, we’re not so much about cod as we are Salmon. Some salmon on a cedar plank or bannock would be the best I could offer you.
God I love bannock. A really nice lady from the reserve used to sell it and some salmon on the corner in our village and I would always buy some.

I woke up too late to drive down to the other detachment for the ceremony with RCMP, fire, and EMS.
I will likely be up at 5 am tomorrow to raise the flag though.

I’ll certainly take some salmon. But I’ve never heard of bannock.

Doing alright. Rough week for us, but it's a beautiful day and I'm out with Sammy.

Thank you! And a spring rain will be nice.

Tell me more. I thought it was a fish, but Google tells me otherwise.

Oh God bannock is so good. It’s First Nations bread.
Its made differently from location to location.
Its kinda like a biscuit. Oily bread.
When David Obuchowski came to Vancouver with his family, we walked to a First Nations restaurant and bought everyone some.

It rains 3-5 days a week here in spring so it gets dreary and humid, rivers are already flooded too.

PNW?

Missouri - we have an extremely wet spring and have more precipitation fall each year than the PNW, but more sunny days than there too.
We have pretty bad weather most of the year here. I’m finally tired of flooding in the spring, hot and humid summers, tornadoes in the fall and icy winters and have been trying to move but this global pandemic has thrown a big wrench in it.

It rained today. Nice to wash the crud off the roads. Also it’s very busy at work, more and more people everyday.
I haven’t seen it this busy since November
